During FEIPLAR COMPOSITES & FEIPUR 2016, 12,800 visitors got to know and negotiated new technological solutions for their companies

On November 8 and 10, 2016, the ninth edition of FEIPLAR COMPOSITES & FEIPUR – International Fair and Congress of Composites, Polyurethane and Engineering Plastics took place at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo, SP, Brazil. This edition received 12,800 visitors, a number 16% lower than the 2014 event (15,250 professionals), but registered an 8% increase in the number of companies that visited the event. “For the exhibitors, the visiting public was extremely qualified and diversified, allowing them to close deals at the fair and create several real opportunities for new commercial transactions”, informed Simone Martins Souza, director of Grupo ArtSim, responsible for organizing the event. .

The exhibition featured more than 300 companies that exhibited their products and technologies, 28% of which from other countries (total of 87 companies), led by China, the United States, Germany, Italy, Japan and England (68 companies), in addition to 19 companies from Switzerland, France, Australia, Argentina, Uruguay, Turkey, Taiwan, Peru, India, United Arab Emirates, Korea, Colombia, Chile and Belarus. Other simultaneous events, technical demonstrations (manufacturing and repair of live parts) and practical training showed various technologies such as the correct application for release agents (Chem-Trend), heating by infrared radiation and correct specification of infrared emitters (Heraeus), the best process for injected PU (RMPA), how to manufacture a surfboard with MDI (PU Ideia and Estaleiro Shape Clube), technical fabrics for plastic reinforcements (Texiglass), core materials – with emphasis on PET foam (Diprofiber), modeling, release systems, types and application of gelcoat, types of resin and lamination, and how to calculate a laminate (WR Consulting and Training, and VI Fiberglass) and solutions for recycling PU, rubber and other materials (Chemtura).

During FEIPLAR COMPOSITES & FEIPUR 2016, the third edition of the Academic Challenge in SAMPE Composites was also held, which aimed to introduce the theme “profile in composites material” in the academic environment and had the participation of 16 university projects. The overall winner of the III SAMPE Brasil Academic Challenge was the FEI University Center. UFRGS-Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia, USF-Universidade São Francisco and Unicamp – Universidade Estadual de Campinas also won in their respective categories.

Other highlights were the course Long-term failure criteria and technological innovations for industrial composites from Ibcom-Instituto Brasileiro de Composites (Antonio Marmo, Francisco Carvalho and Antonio Carvalho), and the Special Sessions Shielding, Industrial, Automotive, Civil Construction, Basic Sanitation , Furniture and Footwear (with the exhibition of more than 150 finished products).

Already marking a tradition at the event, for the second time, Scott Beckwith, technical director of SAMPE USA, taught courses in Brazil: Molds for the manufacture of composites and Testing methods for composites, and VI Fiberglass, with the objective of offering a special meeting with its customers and visitors, it organized a meeting with Professor Gretz with the objective of providing a new motivating way of working and doing business (one of the most awarded speakers in this area).

The Excellence Award Ceremony, which this year brought together the composites, polyurethane and engineering plastics sectors in a single event, on November 8, with an audience of over 150 people, showed the big names in the plastics with differentiated performance, whether in the development of parts, in the supply of raw materials and equipment, or in the individual performance of professionals. The winning companies in the Finished Products category were Fibra Aço, Petros Seals, Vedapar, Federal University of Minas Gerais, PU Ideia, Engepoli, Holos Brasil, Inbrasp, A.Schulman and Real Poliformas. In the Outstanding Supplier category, Chem-Trend, Covesto and Evonik were awarded Manufacturer of the Year, and Abcol, M.Cassab and Petropol were awarded Distributor of the Year. The Personalities of the Year were Luis Fernando Barbi (Texiglass), Rodrigo Santiago (Univar) and Fernando Tadiotto (Petropol). The tribute to the professionals who dedicate themselves continuously and prominently in the market (Joint of the Work category) consecrated Américo Potenza (VI Fiberglass), Giuseppe Santanché (Purcom) and Jane Campos (Radici). The Hall of Fame received new and important names: Giorgio Solinas (Texiglass), Antonio Koury (CBP) and Antonio Dimitry (Dmitry Design).
